Dongying Economic Development Zone (DEDZ) is a key provincial-level economic development zone set up in 1992 with the approval of Shandong provincial government. In September 2002 DEDZ was approved by Shandong provincial government as a provincial-level high-tech industry development zone.InJanuary 2003 DEDZ was explicitly approved by Shandong provincial government as the main carrier of Shandong processing and manufacturing base in Yellow River Delta.

DEDZ has 65 square kilometers of planned area, among which 15 square kilometers has been built up. According to the planning, DEDZ is mainly for the development of mechanical manufacturing, fine chemical, electronic information, new materials, textile clothes, high-grade furniture and other industries.

Committee of Dongying Economic Development Zone is the control agency of Dongying Economic Development Zone, it is a governmental instrumentality of Dongying People's Government, which work is programing and building work of Dongying Zone, helping the corporations of Dongying Zone to boost up the communication and cooperation with both here and abroad.
